Not really, the 3DS is a lot more powerful and more advanced than the DS even without the 3D effect.
The system also has a PIN lock system so that parents can prevent kids from using the 3D effect if they want.
On the pricing side of things, Dixons now have it available for preorder for £199.0

As soon as the 3DS comes out the DSI will drop in price. It is probably worth the wait.Hi just wondering if it's worth waiting to get a dsi for my son whose birthday is late March, was going to try and find a bargin soon. Not bothered about the 3d one. Any one know of the best deals?? Thanks:j0

If you want a DSi it's worth keeping an eye on Amazon each day - they are constantly moving their prices up and down. Recently I've seen the White DSi for as low as £89.99 on there but you'll have to keep em peeled and be ready to snap up the deal while it's there.Hi just wondering if it's worth waiting to get a dsi for my son whose birthday is late March, was going to try and find a bargin soon. I think that with the DSi XL, its started to get more expensive. I ended up ordering a bundle from Amazon last night, but its not getting any cheaper.
The rise in VAT and the drop in value of the £ will have an effect on price. I think the 3DS was meant to launch @ £199 originally anyway.
However, I agree that the 3DS has more scope to drop in price. There will definately be more bundles out there for it closer to the time.0

And it will go on sale in Japan for the equivalent of £149-99
Prices will drop here soon after relaunch.
The pre-order on the Wii was £199-99
When it came out it was £179-99
 DS was £149-99 pre-order
When it came out it was £139-99
 Anyone see what they do
Pre-order, get it on the day of release (Not Guaranteed) goes on sale the next day cheaper
The 3DS will be sold in shops after the release date for approx £150
Games are expensive too which you need to add in0

            I wouldn't be giving a kid under 6 a games console anyway..seems a bit lazy/silly to me.0

            Hello,
On Tesco Entertainment website's home page there is an advert saying 3DS is £200, with the listed code, plus double clubcard points.
There is also a 350 bonus Clubcard code kicking about, for when you spend over £35 at Tesco Entertainment.0
