Just got back from Sainsbury's and thought i'd post this incase it is of use to someone? BB on both of my jars is nov 2012 so will be ok for this xmas (if it doesn't get used before!)
Nice big jar for 25p! can't go wrong, well unless you don't like mincemeat;)

  • If this is the same mincemeat I used to make my mince pies before Xmas, then I can recommend it. They were lovely. Will look out for it, thanks.

Thanks, I got the last jar in my local store.

I love mince pies, but I've never made them myself before, so can someone tell me please: roughly how many shallow-type mince pies can I get out of 822g of mincemeat? And how much *ready-made* shortcrust pastry do I have to buy to make that amount? (my baking [in]abilities don't extend to making my own pastry yet!)- thanks...

Hi, I got 4 jars from Lincoln Sains. Many thanks.
Got some puff pastry on offer too, so will make some mince tarts with that.

I found this Delia recipe for quick mince pies and it looks like a 822g jar would make approx 56!
she uses a 411g jar to make 28 and a 375g packet of ready rolled puff pastry

  • I made 48 out of my jar before Xmas and I had eaten 7 of them before they had even cooled!! Mmmm! The remaining 41 got stored in the freezer out of harm's way!

Just got some from longwater/costessey Norwich. didnt see this post before i went, nearly missed them as they had the normal white shelf label - im always on the look out for a red reduced sticker!

The normal jam jar size ones next to these were £1.20 got several jars sure we will use them all by 2012!

they also had the smaller jars in the finest range for 25p for those that like brandy in their mincepies.
