Everyone I know is sinking under a decade of DEBT..

Agreed. It's totally criminal of the credit card companies to lend their own money to an adult person with legal and moral responsibilities to repay it (complete with credit agreements in English, published interest rates etc).
I better look out the next time I lend my mate a tenner to pay for his round, in case some grass snitches on me to the police.
I feel sorry for the nurse. She is truly a victim of a horrendous crime.
Perhaps she can get some compensation.
Don't get me wrong, my friend has been foolish. However, the point about criminality is that the credit cards (banks) are NOT lending THEIR money. There isn't any money. They just create the money to lend from nothing then charge exorbitant interest on money they never had in the first place!
If that is not criminal activity then what is?0 -

You must have similar tastes to me.... shame on us for living within our means.
ISTL - guess it depends on how you view your mortgage(s) personally I consider them to be a debt like any other and often lurk or even post on the DFW board for the 'expert' opinions on spending because seriously those guys and the old style board can feed a family of 5 on 20% what I spend for 4. On the whole I ignore the 'asset' being our home as we need to live somewhere and just focus on the liability being roughly 2x joint income.
Depending on your viewpoint I am more in debt than the 28k nurse with 50k of creditcard debt.MF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/2000

Theft. Murder. Genocide. GBH. Having a dog without a license. Rape.
Standard banking practices - which have led to the most luxurious living standards for the largest number of people in the most countries in the history of the human race - are NOT criminal activities.

What a load of tripe.
Banking practices can be criminal. It depends if they keep to the law.
Driving a car is not criminal. Driving it at 180 mph on a motorway is.0 -

What did you not understand about STANDARD?'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -
Standard does not mean legal.
It's standard in some eastern countries to beat your wife. Definiotly not 'standard' here.
Presumably it is legal there.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -
