HSBC or First Direct Fixed Mortage

Both offering 5 year fixed at 4.29% with a £99 set up fee for my LTV

Which do I choose?

    HSBC - 3.94%

    Will you be able to overpay every month?
    Feb 2012 - onwards MF achieved
    September 2016 - Back into clearing a mortgage - Was due to be paid off in 32 years in March 2047 -
    April 2018 down to 28.00 months vs 30.04 months at normal payment.
    Predicted mortgage clearing 03/2047 - now looking at 02/2045

    Aims: 1) To pay off mortgage within 20 years - 2037

    I'd say FD then. The situation may reverse itself at the end of the term in terms of the follow on rates, but there's no reason to choose HSBC because of that. All you can say at present is that FD would be cheaper if your deal ended today.

    I've also always found FD to be generally good.
