Santander Bank charges

Hi,
I just had a question, the banl told they only can excuse 1 banking charge per year as a goodwill gesture. Ive been successfully have reclaimed more then 6 barges charges this year due to me having a low income and simply not able to afford it. The latest charge was due direct debit where there wasnt enough funds although i cancelled the direct debit with my car insurance. They put the money back in the same day but I am still left with a £35 banking charge which Santander are saying is totally valid.
What can I do the reclaim that bank charges and any further ones?
I can't close my account yet with Santander till I get the charges & overdraft are paid :-(
And also I get monthly interest for the unpaid overdraft in my account, those are valid right? You can't claim them back under financial difficulties or can you?
Thanks in advance,
x

Have you read the MSE guides to reclaiming bank charges?
It explains the possible options (even if the legally based challenges haven't proven succesful yet)."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100
