My other useless observation is that there is an old stone built house near Bainbridge in the Dales that I would expect to be listed, is definately in a National park and has a traditional stone roof.
I cannot see the DPA allowing solar collectors of any sort on the roof. The garden has some dozen solar water and electricity panels in it, arranged in neat arcs to face the SSE to SSW. I do not suppose the DPA can do anything about it, because they are theoretically moveable and people can do what they want in their gardens as long as it is not a construction. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
to add to my list...i am also in an [i think] english heritage site or its one of those english something or others...its the big mansion house and the village , which means me too. they come each year to inspect the wall around part of here. im not allowed to have any ivy etc growing on it.0

i have permission to pole across the neighbouring field from the nearest elec source. alas national park have told me they do not want overhead cable work.
to go underground it has to cross 2/3 roads dependant on route.
iv been told "highways " must do the road work and that is the expensive bit!
ditches along the road side make it difficult to lay cables too..
im stuck on whats like an island..... no wonder it was never connected years ago !!
the gas main luckily just goes from a to b down the road so im just a spur off.
i will look into the poss of gas lights tho...thankyoure telephone... it took me 5 months to get connected cos the line goes to a pole on the edge of my property then goes underground along the road side
Have you asked your DNO (electricity distribution comapny) to supply you with plans of your location and surrounds showing the cables.
Also if you are thinking of solar panels, if your in a conservation area they might not allow.
i think in your situtation, it would be really worth your while to build some sort of relationship with someone in the Park who can help you out. if only discussing what they will allow you to do or not do.0 -
off grid pv system with batteries for storage
see sma/phocos/steca/outback websites
or hybrid off grid
pv/wind/hydro/fuell cell with generator connection
micro to vast sizes to power villages/islandsi live in a 1880s house with no mains power. i need to know the best/economical/reliable/feesable method of gaining power other than a generator. or at least a complimentary addition to the genny.
