resign now??

Hi All

I had an interview last week and was successful, I have had verbal confirmation by phone and have had an e-mail stating that as soon the paperwork reaches HR an offer of appointment for full time 37.5 hrs will be sent out to me. I have got to give 1 weeks notice with my current employer.

The dilemma I have is that I want to resign now, but i`m a little nervous as I have not had the posted written notice (but I have had the email from HR mentioned above)

Resigning now would meen that I would have a couple of days off before I start the new post, which would be great.

I will not be able to stay in my current job if this one falls through for some reason, due to any bad feeling that may have arrised due to me seeking other employment.

Any advice would be great

Just make sure that you are able to make the correct options that make you feel secure,therefore do not resign yet,one never knows.

Thanks both for input,

I think i`ll wait until I have had the written confirmation, sorry for the short reply, gotta run to HR to get the termination letter that I handed in a few mins ago.
