Selling second hand CD's and Books

I have a rolling stock of about 150 books listed and usually would expect to sell one every 6 weeks or so.
So starting today, it would take you about 18 years to sell the current stock! Although you could still have some of the early stock as you may have sold later additions in that time.If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -

I get bored and once there are too many copies I just delist them and take them to the charity shop. In fact I think the whole book market online is now dead, I gave up my main book business on Amazon last November after sales plummeted.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. As the secondhand booksellers who were prepared to buy books retired/stopped trading/became more choosy I used to try and sell any unwanted books at car boot sales, but very few sales. Too lazy to start listing on Amazon/eBay etc, too much work involved as far as I'm concerned (personal viewpoint only). So like you mine have all gone to the charity shops (where 50% originally came from!)If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -

I actually boxed up a lot of my Amazon stock and offered it on freegle, and had no takers at all. I don't even bother at car boots, th elast ones that sold there went for 10p each and that was a struggle and I'd rather use the room in the car boot for things that fetch a better price.
I would love to know exactly what killed the market though, one moment I was a small sized pro seller turning over 70 books a month, then literally in less than 10 weeks I dwindled to selling nothing, yet I was still listing new stock every week and turning over the old stock. I still have about 900 books on Amazon and sell as few as 8 a month.
At the same time as i gave up on Amazon a couple of other local sellers did as well as they contacted me to see if I wanted to buy their stock.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. They often offer a higher value if you exchange which is handy if you want to buy something else (e.g. they might offer £10 cash or £12 exchange). You could always get them to cherry pick the better stuff and send anything they won't take to Music Magpie as a last resort. I've used Music Magpie and it wasn't too bad, as it was stuff I'd never sell on eBay etc.
You'll be lucky £10 cash for an old CD lol0 -
CDs and DVDs
I think you would have to be lucky to get £10 for a second hand DVD as well.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. My theory is that it was a combination of the recession, availability of books on devices such as Kindle or as downloads, books not being as popular as they were and too few buyers chasing too many books. The low prices in some charity shops may also be a contributory factor.
From a personal point of view, this year I have bought very few books. I'm finding very few I really think I "need" or are interesting enough to buy, or don't duplicate what I already have. Plus of course I'm running out of space. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -
