Vodafone won't let me downgrade

Have you tried to go onto your account on vodafone's website and see if you can move to a lower tariff via the website. I've been a Vodafone customer for years and I moved to a lower tariff last year not long after signing up for an 18 month contract (with my shiny new phone). Never had any problems.0
