in Cutting tax
I really desperately hope someone can help me make sense of tax and NI related woes I am having.
I am employed full-time. However, last year for one month I also did some freelance work as a one-off for a month in October. I let the tax office know but since then I have had two NI bills. I assume these are quarterly bills even though I have not done any freelance work since October. Also, in October, the organisation I did the work for, took NI from my salary.
It is possible that I will do some freelance work on and off next year but it would not be anywhere near £5k in total.
Am I right in thinking that I need to apply for exemption from class 2 contributions? And that in April(???) I also need to so something(???) about tax for the work I did?
I am hopeless at these sorts of things. Any help anyone could give would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks,
Jo
