It's something I will never achieve! It's amazing how screwed up things can get so quickly. On the positive side, I don't care about credit rating anymore - if I need / want something I save and pay cash. Never getting into this situation again! Only hope my older kids have learned from my massive errors. I don't take all the blame - credit card companies shouldn't target students and phone constantly tying to get you to take credit transfers. The attitude changes amazingly when you can't pay. Your friendly credit card company becomes a vicious shark, when they get fed up they sell your debt to the lowest bidder and that company profiteers on a debt that has been written down in company accounts as bad debt, reducing the net profit and therefore tax liability. So a debt that cost them a couple of quid is enforceable and they make thousands. There is something immoral about the entire financial industry in this country, especially as we own large chunks of it. Rant over, feel better now, thanks for the help. Let's see how tomorrow goes. Now, will I get any sleep tonight?

Exactly why I have zero morals with the lending institutions.
They should be treated with the contempt they deserve.......:D

What's worse, is they didn't "really" lend you any money in the first place! But that's another story......;)

You should go, even if it's just to put your case forward of what you can pay per month. The judge will normally find in your favour with the suggested amount. They fully understand that you can't pay what you don't have....;)

If you don't, then they may give a forthwith order for the full amount, in which case, you'll have to apply for a redermination.

Make sure you take with you a clear note of your income and outgoings, might also be useful to take evidence that you've lost your job and are claiming benefits.

And some Scottish courts have in court advice available - see list for contact details (sorry, not sure if this list is up to date), in case you have time to have a chat with them before it starts.
