Occupational pension & National insurance query

If I have an occupational pension which is over the basic personal tax allowance and I return to work, in a job paying under the National insurance rate eg £100
a week ( so I would not pay NI).For the purposes of paying national insurance or not from the wage from my job, do my earnings also include my occupational pension, or just what I earn in the job?
thanks

There is no NI due on pension income.

Your pension income is not added to your income from employment to decide whether you should pay NI. In fact, if you had more than one source of earned income, you would be assessed for NI on each individually.

Your pension income is, of course, added to your earned income to calculate your tax liabiity.

If you are of pensionable age you don't pay NI anyway

You can receive a company pension (which is what the OP receives) before state retirement age. It is state retirement age which counts.

I came across this thread whilst I was looking for the answer to the same problem. I took my occupational pension (£2500 pa) in November at aged 60. I also do a small amount of paid work which I pay NI and am taxed on (my OP is also taxed and I'm not worried about this). However in my coding notice it say that ' OP should not take off NI contributions from the date you reach State Pension age' I thought all pensions were NI exempt. My OH has been receiving a OP for 10 years ( took early retirement) and hasn't had NI deducted ( he did for a while pay voluntary NI so as not to lose out on state pension).

    So has something changed recently?
