Why is the work placement a no-no?Gone ... or have I?0

it's very local and this is the area the whole of my bad experiences happened in. the boss is a guy around 25ish and to be frank he creeps me out. i couldnt even speak to him i was that nervous and he was flirting with me telling me i looked pretty and stuff. then again i probably overeacted. i have a pretty bad phobia of men due to bein raped and it doesnt help that alot of the lads who i went to school with go body building at the gym the placement is at. plus i hate bein seen and looked at and i dont have good social skills. the job is serving people food and taking orders..Why is the work placement a no-no?0 -
Because three of the lads who terrorised her at school attend the gym that they want her to do the placement at. It might be an idea to phone Victim Support for some advice and support if they insist on you doing this placement which is frequented by your former bullies.0

Sadly there are bullies in all walks of life, including in the work place. This is something you are going to need to, with help, face head on. Would they be able to offer you an alternative placement?
Taking yourself out of the workplace at such a young age is a really bad idea.Gone ... or have I?0 -
Thats what i said. A proportion not ALL of it. The OP says in her first post that shes giving her mother ALL of it. If this is the case how can she attend interviews.Whats she supposed to do, give the bus driver a piece of paper with IOU written on it instead of bus fare so she can get to an interview! She also says that her mother told her to "get benefits or get out" Sorry but this speaks volumes to me. Surely most parents would be saying "you need to get a job or go to college" not "get benefits or you are out" Too many people think of their children as cash cows.
If claiming benefits is the only way a young person can pay his/her way in a cash strapped household then this is what they should do. Why should parents be expected to keep their adult children for nothing? How does this help them and what message does this send out?0 -
Victim Support are there to give support and advice whether the perpetrator of the crime is on record as having commited the crime against you or not. Have you considered the possibility that you could be suffering from post traumatic stress disorder after what happened to you. You really need to talk to your GP and tell him/her how you feel. And you need to tell the Job Centre and/or the private provider that you cannot do a work placement somewhere that your former tormenters attend and ask if there are alternatives. I really hope that the Job Centre take notice of this. After all if something else happened to you cos the Job Centre dismiss your fears, dont take you seriously or threaten to sanction you if you dont do it and then you got verbally bullied or assaulted there it wouldnt look too good in the local press would it?0
