bitter and twisted: i can assure you, you want to stay that way! bedbugs are ferocious and a nightmare to get rid of (came across them in a youth hostel once).

if you ever have someone bunk at yours after travelling, i'd recommend boil washing their sleeping bag on arrival just to be on the safe sid ;-)

Fleas work on breath.. think it's carbon dioxide but may be wrong
If you walk into a house that has been closed up for a couple of weeks and the pets are gone, the newly hatched fleas respond to motion and the above . The newly hatched fleas will start biting .. usually the ankles first
OP they don't bite in lines.. they just bite but they do work outwards. The more bites you get , the more fleas are there.
    Sorry

I remember when Iadopted a cat nearly 20 years ago, it was riddled with fleas, not that i knew this until i had dozens of bites all over me and guests started scratching when they visited. They were a nightmare to eradicate.

You can probably get the best advice from a vet - they will be able to recommend something to kill a wide range of nasties that are suitable for use next to your skin - a lot of flea treatments say they are not to be used on human bedding.

Failing that, I second the dry cleaning idea. If it has been hanging in a cupboard for ages it could probably do with a good clean anyway!
    Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!
