Hello, I have recently bought a dining table and chairs from a charity shop, it's really good quality and says on the bottom of the chairs it was originally bought in 1980 :-)
The only problem is the fabric on the chairs is a brown flowery pattern and a bit worn, so i am planning to cover them.. It looks quite simple, there are 4 screws on the underside of each seat and it looks like it will just pop upwards.
Anyway my question is can I use oilcloth or something else that is wipeable, as I have 2 toddlers?
TIA

yes of course you can! but if adults are sitting down too - oilcloth isnt the most bum-friendly of fabrics!
with my old dining set with the pop out seats - I used to cover them with the cheapest washable fabric I could find - even used an old pair of velvet curtains once! then ditch them when they got too stained. It doesnt take long to recover dining seats if you have a staple gun! and such fun too!0 -

No saves on washing if you don't wear them!
I was thinking more breakfast time/pj shorts but then again they aren't THAT short even in summer, lol. I don't think it would be that much colder on the legs than a plain wooden chair would it?0 -
You could cover the chairs with oilcloth, then make fabric covers with an elasticated hem (a bit like a fitted bottom bed sheet, but elastic all the way round not just at the corners) to slip over. Easy to change the fabric without having to get the staplegun out.
If you have some fabric that matches the curtains or blinds people will think you paid a fortune for coordinating furniture.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0
