big savings on toys in the sale at toysdirect.com

sale page

examples...

plan city underbed play table was £139.99 now £53.99

plan toys road & rail set was £69.99 now £26.99

gowi tea set on tray was £13.99 now £6.30

monopoly was £14.99 now £4.99

and loads more, worth a look for pressies for later in the year, some very nice goods with good savings

also just noticed this statement on their website, which makes a change since so many shops are adding extra to stuff at checkout

"Please note although the VAT is increasing to 20% we will absorb this and our prices will remain the same until new stock arrives."

however as durham_girl points out below this doesn't tally up with their pre and post vat prices which clearly state 20% ... refer to post 3 by redpablo for clarification on why this would be

The monopoly has gone up in price now but the others are still the same. Also they ARE charging VAT at 20%, it says so on every price. :)

They have to charge 20% VAT, it's the law. If they say they are absorbing the difference then it means they are charging the same price (apart from Monopoly you say) but they are absorbing the difference - therefore making less profit / not passing the increase on to the buyer.

But they absolutely have to charge 20% VAT if they are VAT registered.

BTW, I'm not saying the prices are the same or haven't gone up as I've never seen their site before or their prices pre the VAT rise, but wanted to make clear they have to charge 20% VAT and absorbing the cost means as above.
