Wondering if you guys could help me...
I recently purchased a new desktop PC and would like to add 2 IDE 80gb hard drives to it.
The desktop came with a 80gb sata hard drive.
I have connected the two extra hard drives correctly but it only seems to recognise one on the bios but neither in the 'My Computer' section.
Could someone tell me if i need to add a jumper to the SATA hard drive, in order to make it the master as thats the one that the operating system runs off.....what am i doing wrong?????
Thanks in advance!!!

Leave the SATA drive as is. You'll need to format the drives and partition them prior to use for My Computer to see them. If you have jumpers for the other drives, set them both to slave.
Goto Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Computer Management and click on 'Disk Management'. From there, you should see the other drives. Right click and select format.
Check in My Computer, and hopefully both new drives should be listed.0 -

there are no jumpers in any of them....i want the original sata to be master and other 2 to be slaves
I have no idea where the jumper is meant to go(which drive) and how you fit it onto the drive"He's a maniac, maniac that's for sure,

all newer systems use "cable select" as the method of determining which drive is primary (master) and which one is secondary (slave).
I suspect you need to tweak the BIOS settings. You'll always miss 100% of the shots you don't take - Wayne Gretzky
Any advice that you receive from me is worth exactly what you paid for it. Not a penny more or a penny less.0 -
You'll have to check the documentation for all the drives then. Set the SATA to master, and the others to slaves. This should mean they all get seen. The one showing in the BIOS should show up in the admin tools though. How do you have the new drives connected? Two separate cabels to mobo, or both on one IDE cable?0

the sata hard drive is connected via a sata cable. the other two hard drives are connected using a three way ide cable, one is connected to the secondary ide socket on the mb and the other two are connected to each of the hard drives."He's a maniac, maniac that's for sure,

you need something like partition magic. i plugged in a new hard drive a few weeks ago but the computer wasn't seeing it, i had to, er, "borrow" a copy of partition magic off the interweb to get the computer to recognise it then format it.0
