Name on a writ affecting mortgage applications.

This is quite a specific issue and I'm not sure this is the correct part of the forum to ask this question but I thought maybe someone in moneysaving land might have some experience and be able to offer some advice. At the moment it is just hypothetical but I have never been involved in anything like this before and am curious about the effect it will have.
I inherited a currently worthless Keydata plan from my late mother a couple of years ago and am in the process of joining a litigation action group in the hope of recovering the money. The group is targeting some large financial institutions that were charging fees for regulating transactions of the underlying bond investments and is hoping to be able to issue a writ with all the claimants' names on by the summer. These institutions include one large mortgage provider. My girlfriend and I are looking to buy our first house and get our first mortgage by September when our current tenancy comes to an end. I was just wondering if anyone had any experience on whether having a name on a writ potentially pursuing litigation action against this company would mean that the organisation would not even consider me for a mortgage, or are the large banks so big that it either goes unnoticed or the potential profits on selling a mortgage are too big to ignore?
Any advice greatly appreciated as it will save me time in the future even considering applying to this company if they are offering the best deal at the time we come to buy.
