hi all,
i've never really paid any notice to my tax code letters but the one today, featuring a K code has got my attention. I don't fully understand tax codes and having done some of the only calculators on HMR website, think mine is VERY wrong and has been for years!
do you know any service i can use that will take all my data and information and put together something i can go to HMR with to get this resolved? i assumed an accountant could do this for me but having google'd a few companies and speaking to them, most dont deal in personal PAYE issues. i know if i speak to them its likely to get go wrong due to my lack of understanding of the system. i have
thanks in advance

depends upon how complicated your financial affairs are
why not tell us your circumstances and maybe you will get the answers here
basically tells us your sources of income or benefits in kind0 -
The first thing to do is actually look at the explanation on the tax coding notice itself that says how they have arrived at that figure, and see if their information is correct.0

I think just simply phoning the Tax Office and explaining the situation might be a start, that's what they are there for and I know they get a lot of bad press but they arn't that bad. Failing that if you speak nicely to someone in your payroll department they may ring with you (I do this a lot for staff where I work) as we can normally translate the technical speak into basic English (LOL!) but you will have to be there to give permission for HMRC to discuss your affairs with a third party.
K codes are noramally issued when your benefits outweigh the personal allowance.. Company Car, Private Medical etc etc0
