If I had gold bullion in my house I wouldn't tell anyone down the pub! I'd probably never dare leave the house.

Is that the same with any other currency in your house?

Bought near the top of the 1988 - 1990 housing bubble , that was much worse than this so called bubble. Own a house now with no mortgage, the beauty is you can live in and pay for it whatever happens. I wouldn't like to be holding gold when that bubble bursts :)
'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher

are they willing to part with £450k for a pile of bricks that is worth no more than £150k?

A house's value is not measured in terms of raw materials used only! It includes the ownership of land, how well planned the interior is, intangible benefits like living near to station/supermarket/other facilities etc.

That is why ultimately a house sold at a price somone is willing to pay.

Some people will overpay assuming they are investing (instead of considering a house a place to live) and they may suffer for their decision.
Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.

    Looks remarkably like this one:

    Infact virtually identical

And as for the gold bubble idea, seeing as we are still in the awareness phase its not a bubble, someday it will be, prob about 3-5 years but I'll be out before it pops with hefty profits.

You are looking at this from a western perspective. Look east and see we are much futher down the 'stages of a bubble' then you care to think.

Its very good to have a global view of things. But house prices are different in each country.
