Sparkly new cooker

Options
Hi all

Just received a new cooker, which is all sparkly and lovely. (old one couldn't be repaired) and got the new on offer and haggled down the price which is great!

However, I am keen to keep it as sparkly as possible, has anyone got any ideas of how to keep the bottom of both ovens clean? I have used tin foil in the past, but just wonder about the silicone liners you can get these days and where they might sell them quite cheaply? Anyone know?

Also any tips on oven cleaning or signposts to other threads on this would be v much appreciated.

Many thanks

  • The best way to keep anything sparkly is to give it a quick wipe down after every single use. Also to never allow things to drip and burn while using it and to clean it off thoroughly immediately the oven cools down.
  • The best selling oven liner is a Lakeland one however you need to be aware that if you have a fan oven it is likely to "blow" the liner up and in my case I ended up with spillage below the liner which caused massive problems.

On thew Lakeland website there are as many criticism of it as there is positive feedback and it all seems to relate to fan ovens.

To their credit Lakeland refunded me in full however it took considerable effort to clean up the mess as I suspect the liner being on top had actually made it worse.

  • oooohhh thanks for that, it is a fan oven, hadn't thought it might cause problems, perhaps will do the tin foil and cleaning thing each time we use it.

Unfortunately my OH is a cleaning freak (which is great) but he gets v frustrated with me as I am somewhat of a messy cook!

    Many thanks for your posts.

    Hi

I too have a new cooker and clean the ovens every time I used them. It's true that the oven liners flap about in the fan oven but I tend to use the conventional setting more. (Use fan setting to heat the oven up)

Do you have a electric cooker? I do and and my belling cooker user manual says -'..Never cover the oven base with foil, as this may cause the element to over heat..':eek:
