play.com cannot supply my nintendo wii!

Just received an email to say that play.com cannot supply my pre ordered nintendo wii at launch and maybe not even before Christmas due to a european shortage!! I preordered at beginning September and am panicking now that my little boy won't get it in time for Christmas.
Any ideas on what to do? Should I order elsewhere, or is it going to be the same story everywhere?
I see HMV are still taking pre-orders but play are now listing it as sold out.
Anyone else order from play.com in September like me?

I got the same e-mail, ordered in September too!Addicted to moneysaving! :rotfl:0

I ordered on the day they started accepting pre-orders. I would have thought I'd be one of the first to get it as I got in early. Makes me wonder if they've messed up the orders again like they did last year with the Xbox 360.0

Im sure play.com wont be the only supplier disappointing people. The states sold out pre-orders in stores within a couple of hours...Being bored is so boring Im bored of it... :rotfl:0

Happens with practically every new console launch. There are only a limited amount at launch and loads of people wanting them. Hence why the price on ebay sky rockets.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

Me too. I ordered on the 18th September.
I've pre-ordered elsewhere - an obscure company that I am not going to disclose - but I don't hold out a lot of hope. I made some vague enquiries of high street shops over lunch but I was met with much laughter both on the other end of the phone and in my office as my colleagues heard me asking "Are you going to have a Wii in your shop?"
I'm guessing I will just end up waiting for Play to deliver, some time after Xmas, although I may take the release day off work and go and troll round the city centre, credit card at the ready.
I do find it encouraging, however, that there's this much interest. At least it's not going to end up as another Gamecube.0 -
Try Argos...
There pre orders havnt been up for that long, and they are only accepting orders for guarenteed delivery.
Still shows as being able to order online - so could be your best bet now!0 -
Ordered on 15th September and still got the email. Absolute farce from Play again, I thought maybe they'd sort it out after the 360 debacle, but clearly not. Won't be shopping with them again.0

You can pre order the Wii console at Currys at the moment for £161.99 (using the free delivery offer and the 10% discount codes) and 3% cashback @ Quidco, making it about £156.00,don't know if it's cheapest option, but an option.:A:T It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice. :T

I just spoke to two people at Argos who both confirmed that they DO NOT over-sell their pre-order allocation and that if I ordered now I would receive it on or soon after 8th December.
The only problem is they take payment now, but undeterred I ordered.

I ordered off play on the 15th of september 1 hour after they put pre orders on the site and got the email!!!!! Makes you wonder if they are getting any consoles at all!!!
But I did get a £5 voucher off them from the newspaper promotion!0
