post office - list of approved solicitors

I am taking out a mortgage through the post office but they have just informed me that my solicitor is not on their approved solicitor list and I will have to pay for another solicitor at their end or change solicitors, trouble is I have just paid my solicitor!
I have asked my solicitor if they can get approved but I fear it will slow things down too much, but really i have no idea how difficult, costly or long it will take them?!?!?
does anyone have any advice or ideas about this approved solicitor list?
thanks in advance

Normally its just a question of your solicitor answering a few questions and supplying a copy of their indemnity insurance - costs them nothing and shouldn't slow things down at all - particularly as the bit they do for the lender is mostly at the end anyway. Frequently just done by sending a faxed letter with copy insurance certificate and maybe copy practising certificates.Adventure before Dementia!0

I am taking out a mortgage with the Post Office and my solicitor was not on their panel. From the paperwork sent to me, I have to pay £117 to use Post Office solicitor for the mortgage side of things. My solicitor has not charged us the fee for the mortgage paperwork side of things, which reduced their fee by approx £100 so only out of pocket by about £20.0

Yes mine has just agreed to cover the cost as well, thankfully :-)0
