Wedding Rings - where to buy?

OH and I have been looking for wedding rings, and just getting stressed out with the prices of them all. Can anyone recommend any reliable and cheap online stores for wedding rings?

I need to get a platinum band. I have tiny fingers, so just looking for a 2mm band, but would like some detail on it - possibly some tiny diamonds/cubic zirconia like this:

OH is looking to get a palladium band, about 6mm, with a bit of detailing on it, something like one of the following:

or http://www.winski.co.uk/palladium-fancy-basic-court-shaped-wedding-band-p-529.html

We could probably stretch to the price for my one, but would love something cheaper. OHs ones are definitely too expensive - we have been quoted a minimum of £845.

If anyone can offer any help at all we'd be very grateful!

  • For you I'd recommend bluenile http://www.bluenile.co.uk/ I got both my engagement and wedding rings from in there and they are beautiful and the customer service is great.

If your husband to be isn't dead set on having a design on his, I'd recommend Tesco. My husband got his palladium ring from there (no design on it though), same width band as you're looking for, cost £200. And you get clubcard points, haha!!
  • Thanks - will have a look at that site. I had no idea Tesco even did wedding rings - we'll definitely have a look!

  • I would recommend a trip to the jewellery quarter in birmingham if you can get there relatively cheaply. I got DH's palladium band at Newey's for about £100. They may do you a deal if you buy two and pay cash, you can normally haggle the price a bit.

You could make a day out of it, we went to an exhibition at the art gallery to make it worth the trip. I believe hatton gardens in london is good too but I've never been.

We got our engagement rings in Hatton Garden and good very good deals, and will return to the same shop which does a further discount if you also buy wedding rings there. It's a fab day trip!

I'm guessing it may have to be a weekend trip to either birmingham or London if the OP lives in Scotland...does anyone know if there is an equivilent jewellery area in scotland...Im not aware of any?

Ooooh op, the wedding ring you want is very similar to mine, except mine has white starbursts set into the top edge, and black starbursts into the bottom edge.
It came from the jewellery quarter also, but it was not ithin your budget as it was bespoke.
However, there are plenty of great jewellers there

  • Thanks all, but Birmingham and London are both probably too far (and expensive) for a day trip from here.

Laurarobby - that's brilliant. I've just sent the link to OH, so will see what he thinks. Definitely a far better price.

  • It sound like your having the same as me and the misses I got it from a nice shop in the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham they charged me

£385 for a 6mm palladium ring with any detail I wanted
£430 for a 3mm platinum ring with 6 round inset diamonds

I found on-line jewellery very poor in comparison

The jewellery quarter in Birmingham keeps being mentioned and I know form your previous posts that its too far for a day out ...but would you consider an online purchase from one of the shops there if someone were able to provide a website link?....just a thought...
