  • Thank you so much everyone, some excellent ideas! Think I might try the meatball chilli! :j Was just worried about food poisoning issues as was always taught in school you should really let raw meat get into contact with vegetables, hence why I was worried about browning the meat first. I suppose if it's all cooked through at the end it shouldn't be a problem! :)
Think I would cope better without an oven, too. We only have the oven and the microwave at the moment. I eat a lot of pasta/noodles/stir fry things so not having a hob is a little bit annoying.
Hope you get yours sorted soon Bitterandtwisted! Very lucky that our landlords look after us like this to be honest! :o

Actually, I think pre-browning is essential when cooking that sort of meat or it could end up looking and tasting like old-fashioned school-dinners.

To be fair, that's what lots of OSers do (ie not browning the meat) .......................... when they use a SC ;)

Maybe that's why I don;t like the food from SCs - they remind me of school dinners  :rotfl:

that's if you're planning eating the vegetables raw - not if you're going to cook the lot ;)
