I usually cook all our food fram scratch. As K599rag says they are more healthy & cost less. However, It's a portion controll thing - I've stocked up with a load of Morrisons (not WW) "healthy" meals that are on offer at the moment - In the vain hope that I can just have that & veg/salad. If I mad my own ther'd be loaddddds more of it & it would get eaten, haha.

the ones i've had have been lovely.
  • ive just has my first weightwatchers meal - beef hot pot with some salad and i have t say it was very nice mmmmmmmmm!

I know it's cheap, but surely it's cheaper and better for you to cook it yourself.

I do generally cook fresh food, however it isn't always possible for busy working people to cook ALL the time.
If you have a responsible posistion and work evenings (sometime till midnight or the early hours) then it isn't always possible for everyone.

At the moment I am lightly loaded and I tend to cook in bulk and put things in the freezer so there is something to have on a busy evening, but there are times when it simply is not possible if you have a pressured job (or two).

People buy ready meals, and weight watchers ready meals for many reasons and this thread isn't the place for the discussion of that, it is for the discussion of the price.
If you have suggestions for recipies etc please do post them in the home style board where I am sure those who wish to cook their own meals will be grateful.

Back on topic, in terms of frozen I usually buy Salmon and Broccoli Wedge Melt (Lovely!!) Beef Hotpot, Chicken Hotpot and the mint choc desserts which are just to die for!
If you have a Heron Frozen Foods near you they are also always £1 in there too.

They aren't doing it to clear old stock as it was the new propoints meals that were half price, there were the odd ones with the old points on and they didn't have a half price sticker on
  • my my you have all been busy since i posted, thank you to the person who called morrisons to clarify which meals.
I assumed by saying chiller everyone would know it wasnt the frozen ones...i will bear this in mind for any future posts!

OK, if all we can discuss is the price, I still say they're a rip off!! I used to buy ready meals, but then discovered a thing called a recipie book, which cost about £10. After the initial outlay, I realised that I could cook the same meals (in advance & freeze them) for much less money than the ready meals cost. If you want to make it even cheaper, there's this thing called the internet which has recipies for free!! :)

I wish everyone would do the same and then the supermarkets would stock more fresh food, rather than the awful tasting, salty& expensive (see I kept it about the price!!) ready meals!!
