Spilt pickled onions all over lounge carpet..

Firstly, sorry if this is the wrong place to ask!
I've had a real craving for pickled onions recently, and was just sat in the lounge munching my way through a few, with the jar on my knee.
Then I dropped it. Cue pickled onions everywhere, as well as the vinegar they're pickled in...
I've blotted it as much as I can, but any tips on how to get rid of the smell? I'm fairly sure it still gonna smell when it's dry...

Don't worry, the vinegar smell will evaporate and disappear0

Most of us use vinegar for cleaning and altho the kitchen/bathroom smell for a while, it soon goes and leaves everything smelling fresh0

What bout the smell of the onions themselves though?0

Oh yeah.... Sorry, I didn't think of that!..... I think I would sprinkle lots of bicarb of soda on it as that is a natural deodoriser.0

Bicarb will deodorise the smell, and being alkaline, will neutralise the acid, too:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0
