hi i hope this is the right place as i need some help
i sold my house 3 years ago i was with Moorside Associates but they sold the mortgages to another company i paid off the mortgage soon after as i had come into some cash now this is the freaky part of the story i had bailiffs come to my current house asking for 3 years of council tax i even though i had sold the house i dont have any paperwork for my old house to prove it was sold my solicitor died a couple of years ago and i am not with the same bank anymore so all i can go on is finding who took over Moorside Associates mortgages as they will have a record of my account

I think Moorside Associates were mortgage brokers not lenders (I am not sure whether they even still exist).
Obtain the Register of Title (Deeds) of the property and it will show the current owner and the date of acquisition on-line at the Land Regsitry (£4).
If it has changed hands since you disposed of it you may have to request a historic reord to get back to your disposal date - use form HC1 available for download from the Land Registry and a £10 fee.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. What have the council asked you to provide?
Usually you don't have to prove that you have moved out of a property. Although maybe it's different if you forget to tell them for so long. Are you paying council tax at your current property?0
