You can buy stuff to flush your system out before a medical, in case you were worried about any prescribed medicines.
  • Was your husband driving a car within 48 hours of an anaesthetic, having possibly taken morphine based drugs and on anti depressants?

He would not be allowed on a construction site on that medication even as a security guard FACT.

A fact which most employers are aware of !!!

Hence the reason why 99% of work place testing is done randomly

This is totally irrelevant to the OP's query.

A known fact. Its always a good idea to declare what prescribed drugs you've had, as these can show up on medicals as banned substances, until further tests are done.

    Agreed !

The OP's Husband should have been asked to declare all medication consumed within the days/weeks prior to the test being conducted . These medications would then have been recorded by the tester and the OP's Husband should have been asked to sign to say that he agreed to the list recorded.

OP- if your Husband can get to his own GP it may well be beneficial to ask for a full urine drug screening to be conducted but this would need to be done now , before any more time passes .

The sample your Husband provided on the day of testing should also have been split into two . One sample is sealed on the day of the original test and not opened again until there is any dispute over validity. The other portion would have been used for the workplace test.

The un-opened portion is refered to as the "B" sample and your Husband (if it is required) is fully entitled to have this sample tested by another lab of his choice. If this is required then the sample will be sent by the original lab to the second lab as your Husband will not be allowed to do this himself incase he were to tamper with the sample.

  • If you READ tge other posts you'd see his shifts were changed from 15 hours to 12 hours after the falling asleep incident- he was also changed from nights to day shifts, his site was changed etc. I said ALL of this in my other post, obviously y0ou have read ONE post on a thread of 100 posts and thought Hmmmm she must be making this up! I have a 4 month old baby, do you honestly think I have the timoe to "make up" a story about my husband failing a bloody drugs test!?

It is a construction site he works on now, and drugs testing is something done occasionally to ensure none of the builders I guess are on drugs endangering livges, I dont know, all I know is he failed it due to his prescription meds. I dont appreciate being accused of making up a thread because im "bored"!!!! :@ Do you say this to all the people who turn to Money Savers for advice?????????????
  • For the othjer advice, thank you!! It is not actually his own employers who are causing the problems but the client, they are the ones who suspended him- his own boss is trying to get him back on site claiming that because it is prescription meds he should never have been suspended.

We spoke to the dentist who said the typoe of anesthetic used (langosene or something like that I dont rememebr exactly!) washes out of the system in 3 hours and doesnt stick around, and that he was not given any type of pain relief which is good, means that it should only be his anti depressants which set it off (he has done a drugs test before which he failed due to his anti depressants, they are very strong and I suppose often used illegally so do show up!).

As for him not being allowed on the construction site, thats down to his boss. He decalred to his own boss what meds he was on, his boss was the one who put him on the site, and when my hubby told the client he was on these meds they didnt say anything about him not being allowed to take them working there. Surely he cannot be suspended simply because his boss messed up and put him on a site he wasnt allowed on? Surely that would be the bosses fault not his?

He has been told he "may" be compensated for the lost shifts when the rtest comes back negative for illegal (or undecalred should I say) drugs. it should be coming back tomorrow. we're just worried it will come back positive for something due to his meds, i dont know how drugs tests work, do they simply test the urine for the drugs they want to know about (i.e. cannabis, cocaine?) and what do they do if my husband said yes I am on blah blah drug which is a derivitive of cocaine? (I dont THINK any of his meds are deriritives of anything illegal but his anti depressants I am not sure about they must have someting in them)...wioll the drugs company know thaty this medication can set it off? Will he be asked for a blood test?
