Asda mispricing policy?

This evening we went to our local asda and my daughter picked up a box of surf - mangled - which had been reduced from 4.48 to 1.96. As we were leaving I checked the receipt and realised that the washing powder had been scanned at the full amount. We went to customer services where the cashier simply voided the 4.48 and put the reduced price in. i asked what the actual policy should be as we had waited in the queue for ten minutes. A manager came over and i asked again what the policy was as other supermarkets would have given her the item for free (was winging it a bit here i admit). he then explained that the cashier was new and that their policy was to give ANY customer complaining about ANY scanned item a £2 gift voucher - this can't be right can it?

Tesco is the only one to give refund and you can keep the item, Asda give a £2 giftcard

Once when we were in asda, the cashier announced that we had been kept waiting to long, (we hadn't as far as we were concerned), and she told us she would give us £1.00 discount.

You got the washing powder for £1.96 and you got a £2 gift card. You are 4p better off than Tescos overcharge policy.

Someone on this site once posted that Asda's actual policy is for £2 for each overcharged item - I've never tested it but I imagine it's on their website somewhere.
  • Yes thats right.....I was given a £2 giftcard for mispriced strawberries in the summer!
  • yet I bough two of the same items two weeks ago and got Overcharged. When I went to CS they were adamant that they only pay out the £2 giftcard once, not 2 cards for 2 items wheter they are the same or not. I called HO and they said the same but at the end she agreed to put another card in the post, HOWEVER after two weeks I still have not received it!!!

I was once charged for 44 cartons of soya milk instead of 4 and I had it all refunded incl the 4 I actually had bought. I didn't get a voucher but it worked out to my advantage having the full refund instead.

I have stopped shopping in Asda from last friday when for the 7th week in a row there was numerous misprices or items not brought but charged for on my reciept.
I have had a £2 good will card every week but would rather have my receipt correct for once and not have the bother of standing around for up to 20 minutes at a time waiting for customer services to stop faffing about.
Am afraid my patience has run out.
It is only one £2 good will card they give you for each shop not for each misprice.

If you look on their website, their policy is, in fact:

What happens if I am overcharged?

If you have been overcharged or undercharged in any of our stores we will gladly refund the difference (if you have been overcharged) and give you a £2 Gift voucher for each product you have been mischarged for.

However, this relates to each product, no matter how many of that product you buy, rather than each item. BUT, if you are overcharged for two different items, you should received £4 on a gift card.
