With or without a recession/austere times etc etc there will always be some people finding it tough owing to their personal circumstances. Hopefully it won't be as tough as it might have been, as they have learned good habits and lots of tips on here. Thanks everyone![SIZE=-1]"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. You're right kittie - as my Mum says, you cut your coat according to your cloth. I am lucky enough to have a job (at the moment), a roof over my head and food in my stomach. I am perhaps being a little more frugal than necessary, but my contract ends in a few months and the more I can do now, the less it'll hurt if and when I don't get TUPE'd.0

The latest "tougher" thread is now in The Arms, and appears to be thriving :j Please restrict posts in the thread to Old Style topics, and feel free to chat as much as you would like in The Arms
To clarify, Old Style is broadly topics that were taught in Domestic Science lessons (cooking, cleaning and crafts).
Thank you all for your understanding :A:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -
we can cope and we have some great support on here
had to put petrol in the car today as DH has a work trip to go on tomorrow and i'm shocked at how much money we've spent on petrol since just before new year
i budget for £80 a month but already we have spent thatwe seriously need to look at not using the car so much as if we keep putting silly amounts of money in the car then we won't be able to run a car
and we need a car due to DD's medical condition
DH will have to start walking to work as that will save us 4 miles a day and it will keep him fit lol!!!!!!!!!!0 -
im not OS as you put it so what tips exactly do you have ??Its not that we have more patience as we grow older, its just that we're too tired to care about all the pointless drama0

I've got a budget of £100 a month for diesel, and for some reason I've still got £40 of it left. I put some diesel in today which should last until pay day, so I'm quite pleased! Mind you it's still going up in price - 139.9p today :eek:0 -
Nice positive title! :T
I'm coping because I have a good storecupboard, trouble is it is not very organised so that is my next task. Mind you a fair amount of it is past it's bb date (app food) and as I am trying to improve our diet it's not really what we want to eat at the moment, only so much cous cous and angel delight we can get through:shocked:. I have got a good stock of pulses in though and soya mince so definately going to cut back on meat (hopefully dh will forgive me) now to menu plan so that it gets used. My goodness just heard someone on skynews suggesting the very same thing, that we all eat less meat and cook from scratch! Looks like others are catching on!:)Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.
