Amazon Ordering - Delivery Charges?

I have a query on Amazon postage rates and wondered if anyone could help?
I have an order outstanding that has not yet been dispatched (classed as an open order). This order qualifed for free delivery. I now want to place a further order but for less than £15, which is the rate the rate free postage kicks in at. Does anyone know if there is a way I can combine my proposed new order with my outstanding order to enable me to save on any delivery charges?
Many thanks

As long as order is not ready to be despatched you can order as normal then go to orders and combine but it will set a new delivery time0

Amazon buyers beware. Yesterday I placed an Amazon order, enough to qualify for free delivery, but managed to order it twice. Idiot I know! Just in case others are as stupid as me - there is a one touch button (or something similar - can't remember) anyway I used this not being aware that it ordered the goods straight away without them showing up in your basket, and also using first class post! I just thought the items hadn't shown up in my basket so ordered them again. Result two orders. Tracked down the Customer Service phone number and they said "this happens all the time, would you like us to disable this facility on your account?" Obviously I said YES. Now I've got to refuse the first order so that it gets returned to them. What a waste of postage. In my opinion they should have said "Keep the first order and we'll cancel the second order and not charge you for the postage since your order was over £45".0

Can you not cancel one of your orders if it has not been dispatched?
Also, if you have email notification turned on, you should be able to check your order when it's emailed to you.0 -

I've just been ordering on amazon, and I was changing my settings to my address book and some other things. I noticed in the options in "your account" there is a heading for change your 1-click settings. So I had a look, I think this where you need to change it to turn my "1-click order" off. Mine was already set to this. Anyhoo this is where the option is.0 -
Yes I could have cancelled the order which hadn't been dispatched - but that was the proper order with the free delivery. The first order (the mistaken one, using the one click button) had already been processed and they said it could not be stopped, but if I accepted it then I would have to pay the postage. As I said, they could have cancelled the second order and waived postage on the first but would not. I did check my e-mail but not until about an hour or so after I had been on the Amazon website and by that time it was too late.
My point in on this thread was to alert others so that they did not make the same mistake.
Thanks Manda 1205 I'll make sure this is done.0 -
I should have known better (I know!) but I got an unexpected shock when I ordered gifts for christmas from amazon.co.uk. I bought all my gifts and did not notice that some of them where bought from traders selling their wares through amazon. I thought my purchase qualified for free delivery (as over £15) but then at the last step in the checkout process I got hit for £20 delivery from these independent traders. It was late at night and I could not be bothered finding the items elsewhere so I went through with the purchase. Needless to say I'll be much wiser next time and pay attention to where my product is coming from through amazon. The notice that items come from a different source is slight and vague and I missed it on this occasion, but I won't miss it again! If I wanted to buy items from other sources I would and I'm a bit peeved about this.
Just a warning to others to beware of delivery charges using amazon.0
