Ok so it's all you guys fault. I picked up a cherry madeira cake type thing in the supermarket at lunch time. Read the ingredients and put it back!! Too many additives etc.
So I have a large pot of lovely glace cherries at home and I want a cherry cake recipe please??
I also have flour, eggs, sultanas, raisins, caster sugar, demerera and dark brown soft sugar and various cakey-making bits!!
Oh and the more cherries in it the better as the shop stuff never has enough in them anyway (unless it's the M&S very cherry cake!!)

Thanks. That's going to be made tomorrow.
Best thing is that no-one else likes glace cherries so it'll be all mine!!!

Well if it's shared out equally then I don't mind as it stops me putting too much weight on
.
Having said that, one day I baked chocolate cup cakes left them in the fridge and popped out to see my mum... returned to find the 3 of them had devoured every single one... I was mighty annoyed that they hadn't even left me one!!!! They haven't dared do that since
I've just got a thing about cherries anyway and OH knows if there's fresh cherries in the fridge then he's not to take any unless he can do it without me noticing - if he's very good then I'll share them with him.

I usually make a Mary Berry recipe, but can't find it online

This one by Delia is similar, and she says it's foolproof - the cherries don't sink :T If you make it, please will you report back - I'm used to cherries sinking
There's an older thread on cherry cakes - I'll add this later.

i just do a basic sponge mix (weigh eggs and then equal quantities of flour, sugar and butter) and add a little milk. add a couple of handfuls of coconut and some washed glace cherries that have been halved and cut in half.
it's yummy
