Black Horse HP - final payment amount

I've been on a PCP HP arrangement with Black Horse on our car and back in November I agreed to pay the remaining balance in January. I rang Black Horse to confirm that they would write to me with the final payment advice which they said they would.
I've just checked my Nationwide account today and Black Horse have tried to take the final payment via direct debit and subsequently failed due to lack of funds (the money is in our savings account). Nationwide will apparently charge us £15 for this failed payment.
My main question is that shouldn't Black Horse have informed us that they would be taking the final payment via direct debit and informed us of the final amount? I mean was I supposed to guess this!

No. They have already satisfied that requirement with the payment schedule that was issued when you borrowed the money.I mean was I supposed to guess this!
No. You have the information already so no need to guess. Just read what you have.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Oh boll%$cks have just found the original paperwork and it says about the final payment in the repayments schedule. I suppose black horse are going to levy a missed payment charge on me as well! Think I've got a lot to learn about moneysaving!
The last paperwork I got from black horse was a little confusing though... "You also have the option to keep the vehicle by making the final payment of..., before the 13th January, 2011" which led me to believe I'd be sent another letter asking for the final payment. The guy I spoke to on the phone confirmed that when I asked.0 -
Quick update. Wrote to Nationwide explaining the situation and they have kindly agreed to cancel the charge.0
