Hi
Could you get an Au-pair at £50 a week to cover childcare costs, ??It's not the despair, Laura. I can take the despair. It's the hope I can't stand. ~ Brian Stimpson, Clockwise0 -
Hi, sorry for not replying to posts. Feel like I'm at my wits end. I just can't cope with this anymore. If it werent for having my precious little boy I don't know what I might have done by now. OH gets 1 weeks notice and no redundancy. Have looked into benefits and he may not even get jobseekers because of not paying enough national insurance when he was self employed. Not sure how that works really. I've applied for housing benefit but that's all we can get for now. My full pay ends in march so we have a few weeks to sort something out. Worst case scenario I guess is we serve the tenant in the old house his notice and we all move back in there. Although it's a 1 bed so it would be ridiculously cramped. I just don't know how this is going to end and it scares me to death. 12 months ago everything was fine and now look at us scrabbling to find enough money for food. It just doesn't feel fair.0

sorry to hear about you husbands job, that must have been an awful shock.
how much notice do you have to give on house you are living in?
how much notice do you have to give your tenants?
could you do a SOA as if you were already living back at your old home?
you need to let the mother of your OH children know ASAP there will be no maintenance.she will need to re-budget too.
i realise it must be very hard for you,but try and stay positive and pro active, talk to friends and family for support.
good luck

We have to give 1 months notice to move from here and would have to give my tenants 1 month too so its not too difficult to sort out if we did move back. I just can't see how that would work because the house was really too small for 2 of us, let alone the 2 of us plus a baby! I'm gonna have a look at the SOA now and see if that would work out at all.0

on a more serious note, could you not go back to work full time immediately while OH stays at home?
i know that would be my husbands dream if we ever had kids!
how far away is your work from the mortgaged house?
also the car on HP, could u not hand it back in to the dealer? if you are more than 50% through an agreement you can just do that.DFW - Debt Free Date July 2013, LBM Oct 2011

Don't mean to be the bearer of bad news but you will probably have to give the tenants 2 months notice if your house tenants are on a periodic tenancy or let them stay until the end of their tenancy if they are in their fixed period (plus notice period if not already given as s.21). This is something to look into especially if they have nowhere to go as the council (if they request social housing) will encourage them to stay past the court order date before they house them. It can take months to get tenants out of a property if they have nowhere to go.0 -

Sorry but you really really need to go over to the housing forum.
Whatever it says in your tenancy agreement, if your tenant is on a statuatory period tenancy, you have to give the tenant 2 months notice, from the aniversary date, which may not be the same as the rent date. So if the tenancy started on the 15th of the month, it is two months notice to be given to him/her in writing by 14th Feburary to vacate by 14 April.
You have to get that right or you cannot evict him/her if they refuse to leave..I just can't see how that would work because the house was really too small for 2 of us, let alone the 2 of us plus a baby! I'm gonna have a look at the SOA now and see if that would work out at all.
Presumably you would have to get an alternative job, but at least your travel costs re access would be reduced. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -

hi hun, first - please know you are not alone, we all understand what you are going through, if you need to let off steam we are all here.
Couple of things that might help -
Lovefilm - I went to cancel and they reduced me to 1.99 p/m for one film, worth a go?
re the mobiles - not sure who your provider is, but they want to keep you and they want you to pay your bill. So if you explain the situation it is highly likely they will work something out with you - also at the end of your current contracts can you keep the phones and go to sim only? not upgrading my phone saved me a lot, I only pay £10 a month now on contract rather than 30
I buy DVD's on Amazon Marketplace you can get 2nd hand ones for hardly anything.
Consider things like www.Valuedopinions.co.uk and get paid for surveys, I started early January and already have £10 for doing surveys, they pay in High Street vouchers which can save for Christmas or use for baby stuff?
Would it be a possibility to work from home say one day a week? saving childcare for one day if thats something that might be possible depending on your job of course.
Trying to sort it out takes guts, its so much easier to bury your head in the sand and pretend it isnt happening, wish you lots of luck and best wishes, am sure you will get through it. Im pretty scared too in a similar position, so totally understand how you are feeling xx0
