Shortbread Biscuits - how long do they last?

Hi,

Does anyone now how long shortbread biscuits last and the best way to store them?

I have found a Jmie Oliver recipe in this months Delicious magazine, was considering making them as Christmas presents?

Thanks

To be honest Im not sure. I was also thinking of making shortbread for christmas pressies, and my mum reckoned i should be baking them a week before Christmas at the earliest..........

edit- i was thinking of storing/giving them in decorated cheapo tupperware.....
I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

Well, in my house they last about half an hour :rotfl: but you can freeze them, just make sure you pack them carefully so they don't get crushed by a frozen chicken or something ;)

Personally I agree with your mum- make them as late as possible although they will be demolished really quickly! Have you any old biscuit tins that you could line with greaseproof paper for the biscuits? I think tin is a better transporter than Tupperware and very OS!

Just asked my mum and she said it could last for months (never had a chance to test that in our house!), but that it doesn't like company (her words ). If you put it in with other biscuits, it will go soft.
