Just wondered if anyone could help please...
It's been a while since I have had to do a SA.
Here's the situation...
Worked on a self emplyed basis for a Loan Company.
I was covering between 250 and 400 miles a week in a car hired from the company but using my own money for Fuel.
What can I claim for the fuel?
I did my invoicing and paper work at home.
What can I claim for using my own home?
I borrowed money from the company to buy a car in the beginning to do the job but this unfortunately blew up a few days later hence the need to hire a car.
What can I claim for this? Will it be put down as a loss and do I claim the whole Loan amount or just the interest charged?
Obviously had to eat every day whilst at work?
What can I claim for food?
Obviously had to wear clothes.
What can I claim for this?
So to finalise...
What do I claim for travel / fuel expenses?
What do I claim for home use?
what do I claim for food? (if any)
what do I claim for clothing?
and if there is anything else I might of missed that you can think of please post in your reply.
Many thanks in advance for your help.

If this was a genuine self-employment, you can claim:
1. The fuel as a business expense.
2. Capital allowances on the car you bought.
3. Food is personal unless you were on overnight stays away from home.
4. Use of own home - probably £3 per week, I'll PM you something on this with more detail.
5. Clothing - only if the nature of the work required protective clothing - there are agreed rates for certain trades such as construction work.Hideous Muddles from Right Charlies0 -
