Oil pulling - Anyone heard of it?

I should have made the original post clearer.
I DIDN'T WRITE IT!
I just copied and pasted it, ENTIRELY (Except for the last line) to see what everyone thought.
Personally, I won't be using it, but like a lot of 'Home grown' ideas, there MAY be some value in it.
The claims certainly indicate as much."Unhappiness is not knowing what we want, and killing ourselves to get it."Post Count: 4,111 Thanked 3,111 Times in 1,111 Posts (Actual figures as they once were))Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.0 -
[IMG][/img]My Thoughts
Oil pulling is something we all should try. It is extremely simple, and involves nothing more than buying a bottle of good cold pressed oil, and swishing it every morning. It's just like brushing your teeth.
Oil pulling works because it heals our cells, which are damaged every day by toxins. We all hear a lot of commotion about how good antioxidants are. Well, by oil pulling, we are essentially doing what anti-oxidants are doing. By oil pulling, we are ensuring that wellness is the norm for our body, not sickness, and cell damage. Dr. Karach postulates that if we were to do this simple regimen every single day, we could potentially live up to 130-150 years old. This claim is backed by many other scientists.
Some of the ailments that many people have successfully treated with oil pulling includes headaches, bleedy gums, leukemia, as well as acne, digestive problems, and kidney disease. For me, oil pulling has visibly given me softer skin, better sleeping habits, and a higher boost of energy throughout the day. Oil pulling therapy is s something I will continue doing if this continues, and I recommend you all try it for a month to see what it does for you! Keratosis oil pilaris pulling.. do some research if you want to know more.
Google 'Oil Pulling' if you think it a hoax.
So these are NOT your thoughts then?0 -
Nope. Sorry to mislead.
It was a straight C&P - As Is."Unhappiness is not knowing what we want, and killing ourselves to get it."Post Count: 4,111 Thanked 3,111 Times in 1,111 Posts (Actual figures as they once were))Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.0 -

I don't think I know of any GP prescribing natural remedies but that doesn't say that they are ineffective, does it?
When did you doctor last prescribe Lemon Balm or Camomile tea?
Or what about comfrey, slippery elm, fenugreek, mullein, aloe vera, yerba santa, red clover, and white oak bark.
All of the above are KNOWN to be remedial. (Look them up)
When were you last referred by a doctor for a course of Acupuncture or Aromatherapy.
Ask your doc what he thinks about Homeopathy?
(LOL!) Homoeopathy is actually what worked for me! Tried it so I could go back to my doctor and say "Look I am so desperate I even reduced myself to trying Homoeopathy" as I wanted to be referred to a dermatologist but my doctor was studying skin and I think saw me as a sort of guinea pig (advising me to burn off molloscum- the one thing you don't do!!). The doctor had told me it was a bad case and would take upwards of 6 months to 18 months to go.
Thing is, after having had the 4 skin conditions for 4 months, they cleared up inside a week!!
I was shocked, grateful as I had been kept awake by the itching/made to wear bandages over all my skin by the doctor (who prescribed nothing but aqueous cream with menthol to help with the itching but not to cure).
I should add it was the ointments I tried direct onto skin and not the pills. The ointments are actually not colourless and I think actual herbs and etc mixed up so not water (not if the green smell is anything to go by). I kept thinking "oh its just a coincidence" and stopped using the ointment as I felt it must have been going anyway. This resulted in the condition returning rapidly- like within days the spots would appear and multiply (day 1= 1, day 2=4, day 3=20...etc) I repeated this same cycle of thought/action 3 times. It took 7 months in total to go by doing that and each time it was rapidly affected by the ointments, direct action: I even tried doing one side of my body and not doing the other. I only had one consultation as it was free (nelsons homoeopathy celebrated their 250th year last year and I got a free consultation). I would have loved to have gone back for the other conditions but literally didn't have the money (debt collectors- that literally!) but the other conditions did get better as I was suggested to use Colloidal silver therapy and this seemed to help a great deal too. I should add I had gotten desperate tried different medications before I got as far as the homoeopath but nothing helped and many made it worse- then NHS direct doctor says to me "oh that will make it worse!" so I knew none of the prior treatments would have done anything.
Anyone needs any tips on molloscum contagious (sp!) just ask.
(Oh and google Thuja, Silver and Molloscum if your unsure.)
Whew!
My doctor has suggested (not prescribed as its cheaper not to get on prescription) the following:
Mint/peppermint tea, chamomile tea and meditation for my stomach issues: not so much IBS (I don't fit any of the other criteria) but bloating and gas. Was eventually referred to a specialist as colon cancer runs in my family. (The tea and meditation did nothing btw). Took years of complaining to get referred. And only I think because by chance I got to see a locum. Turns out I can't tolerate dairy.
Period pain?: Exercise and yoga (I take the highest pain killers- 3 of them at the same time already and they don't do enough).
My dentists uses cloves to numb my mouth at times. (I think its to numb anyway!)
Omega 3 oils: prescribed while I was recovering from an eating disorder. These I do notice a difference with in terms of back pain. Stopped and restarted them several times over the years as I don't always have the cash for them or I just clean forget to take them and get out of sync. I get back pain and realise I haven't taken them in a while. Am much better at remembering them now and haven't had back pain.
Psychotherapy/Counselling?
There are no doubt more, these are just what I have myself experienced and I am aware I have not experienced everything.
OP- didn't realise these were not "your thoughts" which is why I was a bit taken a back as it makes it clear "we should all try this" and I'm thinking no, definitely not going to try this and why did you think that! Thats why I was determined to reply and put my view across as am wary many people may just take advice without question.0 -

Whatever you tried it wasn't a homoeopathy remedy, they are straight uncut water. if you can smell or taste something then you had some form of herbal remedy, not the same thing.0 -

So why did I watch the Homeopath get some herbs, boil them with water and then strain the herbs into the bottle for me to buy....doesn't sound like pure water to me yet was/is a Homeopathic remedy. Maybe am thinking your not a homeopath and don't realise what exactly they sell.0 -

That's not a homepath remedy, that's a herbal remedy, you are confusing two different things.
A homeopathic remedy is one where the active ingredient is diluted to such a level that it relies on the memory of water (magic pseduo-science bunk) to retain it. So for example, a 6cc is diluted to such a level that the original material is diluted by a factor of 100−6=10−12 (one part in one trillion or 1/1,000,000,000,000), popular flu cures are generally 1/1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000.
Boiling some herbs and then straining them into a bottle is *not* a way to prepare homeopath remedies.0 -

Definitely a herbal remedy rather than homeopathic. Sounds like you saw a herbalist.0 -
