Self employed mortgages

Hi all.
By the end of next year my partner and I will have saved £40k for a house deposit. We have been looking at houses in the region of £135000
Two things.
1) As I'm self employed will I get laughed at for being self employed and have to continue to save? (I'm a tradesman, and no one hire people on the cards now)
2) Can any of you recommend any mortgage lenders that specialise in self employed people?
Thanks in advance. If there is a similar thread could you put a link in.
Many thanks
