Do your food products weigh less than they state??

Decided to weigh some food products after a quick shop and found that some of the items I had bought didn't match the weight stated on the items. In some cases it was 320g less eg..flora 1kg actually only weighed 680g.
Are we being ripped off big time ??
How many of your products actually match the weight stated or come close?

I would have contacted trading standards if the Flora was 320g less than stated. That is way too much below acceptable levels.0

Weights and Measures laws and enforcement in the UK are very, very strict. The most likely explanation for the discrepancies is that your scales are faulty. Take the Flora to the nearest supermarket/greengrocer and ask them to weigh it on the deli or checkout scales, which by law are calibrated to be accurate for trade purposes. If it is indeed under declared weight, then inform Trading Standards - this is a criminal matter.0

Ok thanks for that think I will go back to the store and check for peace of mind thanks again0 -
Or do it yourself on the self-service if you want to be more discreet. The weight from the scales is always displayed in the bottom left of the screen (in Asda, Tesco and Sainsburys anyway).Weights and Measures laws and enforcement in the UK are very, very strict. Got some packets of Lidl stewing steak a few months ago. Supposed to be 400g, but several were under-weight --- 370g, 380g etc. I'd taken the meat out of the packets to freeze in plastic bags before I realised, so I couldn't prove anything. I try to weigh things now. Easier in big supermarkets where they have got scales. I've taken my own ones in to Lidl and Aldi on some occasions after that experience.0 -
I had a customer that came to my checkout with a bag of onions. It had a hole in the bag and I weighed it. It should have 1kg, but I weighed it, there was an onion or two missing due to the difference in weight. We got another bag of onions.0

Weights marked with the 'e' symbol are packed according to the Average Weight Controls, which does allow for some packets to be below the marked weight, but the percentage of packets and how much below the marked weight is strictly controlled.
Weights and Measures (Packaged Goods) Regulations 2006 (SI 659)
There's a fairly technical discussion here.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0
