I was just wondering can you buy frozen leeks?? I wanted to batch cook some leek and potato soup, but at the moment the price of fresh leeks have rocketed, something like £2.00 for 3 in morrisons:eek:
Looked in iceland and morrisons, just wondered if anyone could shed some light please???

Farmfoods have frozen l kilo bags for a £1.

I have used them for soups and casseroles and they are fine. HTH.

I'm sure I saw some in Morisons yesterday, I didn't see how much they were though, as I already have some in the freezer which I froze myself, so didn't need any.

I saw some in Asda last week, but they don't seem to be listed on mysupermarket.co.uk.
  • I've just bought some fresh ones from Aldi today - 69p for 4 leeks - their prices do vary but sure I normally pay somewhere between 69p-79p for them.
  • I get the Farmfoods ones which are £1 a kilo and they are great.

Frozen leeks? I didn't know you can buy them/freeze yourself.
How do you use them? Do you defrost them first? Could you still sweat them in butter? (my favourite side dish, also carrots like that..yummy)

I'm a covert to frozen leeks, too. I buy mine in Farmfoods (thanks for the info about Lidl though as not everyone lives near a Farmfoods). What I particularly like is that they save time on prepping and money becasue there's no waste.
