If you are aiming to beat the 31 Jan deadline the pdf forms are no good to you. You need to submit the return online. So long as you have a UTR there is enough time for you to do this - are you able to access your account using your UTR? If so there is a little box for submitting the return.

  • OP are you actually registered to use the online system ?

Have you previously went on to the HMRC website and registered to file your return online ?

If you have previously registered HMRC would have sent to you in the post an activation code and passsword...have you received this ?
The loopy one has gone :j
  • I haven't registered. Is this a long process which I can get done before the deadline?
  • If you register straight away you will get your activation code in time, on the Revenue website it says allow about 7 days to receive this code. But you will need to act quickly.

Yes, you need to act pretty sharpish to get your activation code and complete an online return. It's too late to do a paper version now.

While I would also recommend the online version now as its past the official deadline for paper returns, I did read on HMRC's website that if someone sends through the paper return now and pays any tax due before the end of January, then HMRC won't charge any penalties..

The .pdf's for tax forms are here
