    If you passed your test before January 1st 1997 you should still have D1,D1+E (minibus), C1,C1+E (rigid good - > 3.5 tonnes < 7.5 tonnes)entitlement, plus B+E.
  • Many thanks Indo ,my mate must be talkin nonsense , he mentioned something about anyone who hasnt sat some new test alledgedly out that they would have all these extra things removed from their liscense .

though i think they are bringing these regulations in, if you want to keep an entitlement in the next few years you will have to do a test. i know they are doing it for bikes definately, starting it off by not letting anyone drive a bike on L plates anymore.
  • I have heard that they are removing these aswell, but have also been told that if they do, you can contact them and tell them that there are category's missing from your licence and they'll add them back on for you.
  • Pennywise, altho they don't take the entitlements off you intentionally, I have heard from numerous people that when they get their licences back there are things missing. This is obviously down to clerical errors, but the only thing is that with these licences being older, and new computer systems, once your categories have been changed there is no record of you ever having them. It can be hard to prove since you've sent the only proof back to them!

Word of advice....photocopy your licence before you send it in just in case!

Indeed and I would also consider having it signed as a true copy as this happened to a friend and they would not accept a photocopy as they said they have no way of telling if it was accurate.

So get the copy signed by a solicitor or some other professional person.
