Pension credit

Did ask a few days ago, but no-one answered, so try and word it slightly differently.
hubby (he is 60) is changing from JSA (contribution base) to pension credit in a few weeks. Have read somewhere that he will no longer have to go and 'sign on' every two weeks. Is this correct ?
Also he has been told that he will have to attend the Job Centre for an interview after he has finished for what the Job centre lady called a 'Hot Spot' interview can anyone tell me what this is.

Comments

  • Don't know what a 'Hot Spot' interview is, but after 60, men get their National Insurance Contributions credited automatically and therefore do not have to sign or or attend the jobcentre.

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

Many thanks you two. At least I can set his mind at rest about that. Would really like to know what this 'Hot Spot' interview is.(dont know why he didnt ask , men!) Is he still expected to be 'actively seeking employment' whilst on Pension Credit or is it like Income Support when they call people in about once a year to see what they are doing and if their circumstances are still the same. ?
  • No he's not as he now classed as 'retired' but if he wishes to look for a say part-time job that's upto him.
