I was in me local Tesco the other day and I was looking for an expensive tasting but cheap wine and I can across the Tesco value Spanish Red Wine in a carton for 3.49.
The minute I 'uncorked' the carton I was hit by the gorgeous smell of caramelised figs, I poured meself a glass, I dont own any wine glasses so i sloshed some into a plastic tumbler and sat down in my favorite chair to relax and unwind with me tesco value wine.
Upon the first sip I noticed that the wine had key notes of butterscotch with a slight undertone of blackberry and peach.
I sipped some more and I noticed a hint of roasted almond and some deep floral notes - Geranium perhaps with a touch of orange blossom.
By the end of the carton I had picked up on a more woody and spicy tone , clove and vanilla? coated in molasses .
Hope this helps - its a great wine! proper quality

I have visions of them drinking it from the carton!:beer:If I had a pound for every pound I'd lost, I'd be confused0 -
The Tesco red is suprisingly drinkable - not sure of the real quality but nice enough for an ultra cheapie, and a lot better than many more expensive wines.
An added bonus is that if you drop it on the way to the car park it will not smashTo infinity and beyond!0 -
Hmm, might pick some up and use as cooking wine, should keep fine0

I have tried the Rose, I would steer clear of that in future.0

Just admit you threw some fruit, nuts and spices in your glass of cheap plonk
Must say, for under £5 a bottle, the red Black Tower is surprisingly good.0
