Supermarkets That Deliver To Remote Areas

Tesco won`t deliver here :( (north west highlands) and apparently have no intention of ever doing so!
Neither do Asda or any other supermarket I`ve been able to ask.
I was wondering if anyone knows of any grocery stores (aside from Approved Foods etc as I`m thinking specifically of fresh food, veg etc) that will deliver to remote areas?

I seem to recall spotting that the Co-Op did deliveries in the Hebrides? At least in the Stornoway area, although not elsewhere in the islands IIRC. I presume that the Co-Op are quite big in your neck of the woods as well so might be worth checking.

Hi EH, the nearest Co op is about eighty miles away and the won`t deliver. Thing is, I`m sure that supermarkets deliver over a larger mileage than that at least on mainland, but think they penalise the more remote areas of the Highlands, much like Ebay sellers do (the number of times postage, even through the post office (!) costs `extra` for the Highlands and Islands)

  • hi red doe,

my mum is on the other side north east and tesco will deliver as far as dunbeath but not helmsdale even tho its 3 miles :( most of the villiage have sent letters but to no avail. and the nearest asda is down in elgin so they wont ... but there is one being built in dornoch this year and they mite start delivering to you ? not sure when it will open tho was speaking to a girl in the elgin shop asking if inverness will get one and they said dornoch is the next up here to open ...sorry i cant help i no how annoying this is... if a supermarket did deliver it would make a fortune in the highlands.

    laura :)

Hi Laura, thanks for that. :)
The Tesco in, I think, Wick, will deliver as far as Durness...18 miles away from me! :( But no further. I don`t understand how they can deliver to that extremely remote area but not here. Wish there was a Tescos rep on here to answer why.
