why does my new M&S bra have a warning?

Bought a lovely new bra earlier in the week and was putting it to wash today. Was reading the wash label and there was an extra label attached saying the following: "Important Silicone edge products are not recommended for more than 8 hours continuous wear. In case of adverse reaction - discontinue wearing"
Well thanks M&S I paid £12 for it, have worn it for longer than that for each of the past 2 days but do not appear to have any problems. Why wasn't this info also described on the main box? and what adverse reaction do they expect? Any info please.

That's the only information I could find - it seems it could irritate your skin.0 -
So - are you supposed to take your bra off halfway through a day's work? That's insane! If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0

It`s the `sue everyone` attitude in merchandising...any possible tiny side effect that could maybe one day happen must be listed just in case....it`s mad, but that`s the case nowadays.
Next, they`ll list on bra labels "caution...misuse of brassieres may result in someone`s eye being poked out with underwire""Ignore the eejits...it saves your blood pressure and drives `em nuts!"0 -
What it should say is do not EVER tumble dry! I did accidently once and the silicon went all lumpy. Put me off having implants I can tell you.
I wear silicon bras and chicken fillets for much longer than 8 hours at a stretch and have never had any problems.0 -
Unless you have had a reaction in the past I would say just wear it as you normally do, its pc gone mad again, they are covering thier own a****s:)Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0

If you do react to it then it's horrid. I recently became sensitive to the strips on hold-ups which is the same thing I believe. I am ok for a few hours but anything more and I end up with what look like big red welts across my thighs!Make £5 per day in August= £100/£155
Paid MS- £5+ £10 GR, £5 RE, £15 MS
£65 ebay profit
Waiting on payment- E160 BAI

They have to cover themselves in case anyone did have a reaction. Silicon is something some people have sensitivity to so it's just to point out it's there. As it's in a bra, being worn in something close fitting to your skin, and in an area where you can get warm it would be more likely to give you a reaction if you're susceptible.
To be fair there are plenty of people who would quick enough to complain if they got a rash and nobody warned them. In fact a lot of them post on these forums!0 -
I appreciate that it's about covering themselves; but why the 8 hours? Not recommended for more than 8 hours continuous wear is bonkers.
Fair enough - put that it has silicone in it. Put that it might react. But 8 hours? If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -
I love that bra. It is comfy? Also is there a limit to how many times you can wear it before it loses it`s stickability? If yes to Q1 and no to Q2 then £12 is a bargain and I must have one0

I would think implants would be OK as long as you don't tumble dry your boobs:rotfl::rotfl:0
