Dec sales were 0.3% lower than 2009, Not Dire but it varied from retailer to retailer.
there was some truly awful xmas trading 0.3% when CPI is 3.3% in my books thats dire, and we cant blame the weather as some of the trading updates covered 18 or 19 weeks
the truth is that retail in general is in the frontline and feeling the pinch, many jobs will be lost, some predict 250,000 this year alone.0 -

I was in my local Morrisons yesterday which was absolutely packed with shoppers.
What amazes me is that anyone would need to go into a supermarket until at least Easter, judging by the sights I saw in the run-up to Christmas.
With most stores only closed on Christmas day, people were seen with massive trolleys full for days before the holiday, and it appears there`s still no stopping them now.
Last night some friends went along to "Frankies and Benny`s", a place I`ve never been to myself, mainly because of their exorbitant prices.
This establishment was absolutely packed as well, and they had to wait one hour just to get a table.
All this in the third week of the new year when we are told tighten your belts, it`s going to be a tough ride for us all.
