If you've done more than 10,000 miles the official rate is 25 pence (40 pence applies only up to the first 10,000), so for these miles you claim the 25 pence less the (unbelievably tight-fisted) 5 pence your employer allows.

    Many thanks for this! I suspect they will tax me on the allowance, which makes their miserable fuel contribution even worse!

    Hi quick question i need to claim allowance for 2009 do i send the form to the tax office for that firm I was working for or my new tax office for my new job.Thanks

    Send it to where your records are - so the new tax office.
