Can I claim a website as a expense pre trading

Hope all of you can help again, and I'm not pushing my luck!
This is my first self assessment after turning freelance graphic designer last christmas. My question is I paid for the build of a website advertising my business forr this prior to this tax year. Can I still claim this as a expense, even tho it was outside that tax year...the cost was for £1,200 if that makes a difference.

Yes it was pre-trading expenditure within the last 7 years for a clear business purpose. The exact treatment of how you claim this can vary, but in your case it is not revenue generating so I'd treat it as a business expense.
